When you’re in the business shirt industry you continually look and assess nearly every person you see in a men’s business shirt, whether it’s on the train, in a business meeting or watching the news at home. Quite often you see people wearing shirts either too big or small or the wrong cut for their body shape. These common business shirt pitfalls can leave you feeling uncomfortable or insecure and generally looking less professional.
Check below and make sure all your business shirts fit correctly.
Business Shirt body
- All your buttons should button up with ease.
- The placket should line up after you have buttoned up.
- The bottom hem should hang round 1 to 2″ past your belt. Your business shirt should tuck in with no access material over hang.
- Your shirt torso shape should fit loosely around stomach and upper body. You don’t want to be filling out you’re your stomach area.
Business Shirt Collar
- This is an easy one. Make sure you can fit 1 or 2 fingers between your neck and business shirt collar.
- Most people have closet space problems. Folding your business shirts helps alleviate this issue plus it’s easy to quickly pack for a business trip
Business Shirt Sleeve Length
- Your business shirt should be looser fitting over your arm compared to your cuff.
- You should be able to close your elbow without completely filling your business shirt sleeves.
Business Shirt cuff
- You should be able to put your cuffs over your hands while buttoned up. Or close to anyway.
- If not sure use two finger to test correct size between your shirt cuff and wrist.
Business Shirt Shoulder fit
- Your shirt cross shoulder seam should sit on the end of your shoulder.
- All seams around the shoulder should fit so you don’t see any issues in alignment.
